U.S. Travel's IPW 2016 Attracts Thousands of Buyers, Suppliers and Media to New Orleans

Record Number of Business Appointments Conducted

NEW ORLEANS (June 21, 2016)—This week, more than 6,000 attendees from 73 countries, including over 1,300 international and domestic travel buyers and over 500 media from the U.S. and abroad, attended the U.S. Travel Association's 48th annual IPW. The event, which is the largest single generator of travel to the U.S., convened in New Orleans, Louisiana, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center from June 18-22.

Over the course of five days, a record of over 105,000 pre-scheduled business meetings were conducted between travel buyers and U.S. travel supplier organizations, who purchased a total of 1,352 booths. According to the independent research firm Rockport Analytics, travel initiated by IPW is projected to bring $4.7 billion in direct bookings to U.S. destinations over the next three years.

More than 180 appointments, attended six Brand USA seminars, and hosted clients and media for lunch each day of the tradeshow.

Sponsored closing luncheon with Universal Orlando Resort, included a destination video and high energy entertainment from the popular rock band Barenaked Ladies.

Hosted dinner with 8 Brazilian journalists from major publications like Mercado E Eventos, Panrotas, Folha De Sao Paulo, A Janela Laranja at Shaya in the Garden District.

Responded to questions and inquiries from more than 70 travel writers, bloggers and journalists at the Media Marketplace.

Additional Activities:

  • Hosted a cocktail reception for the Nordic delegation.
  • Co-Hosted a VIP media reception followed by partner event with Visit Florida at NOLA, Emeril’s newest restaurant.
